Wiz Khalifa's title for his tour, "Under the Influence of Music," did not spring completely from the impression he has made on the hip-hop and pop music scene with his mixtapes and major-label songs that put an alternative vibe on contemporary rap styles. The Pittsburgh rapper is also playing off a subject he speaks of often in his lyrics: being under the influence of marijuana. But, Khalifa offers more than a collection of verse and stanza about being smoked out -- there is some substance, contentwise, to his music. And, according to Khalifa on his website, he's digging even further into his roots for his upcoming album, "O.N.I.F.C." For the "Influence" tour, Khalifa has rounded up a group of rappers who also offer an alt flair to contemporary rap: Mac Miller (co-headliner), Chiddy Bang, Kendrick Lamar and more.
Why go: Sometimes it takes a live performance to see if Khalifa's skills as a lyricist go beyond his "Black and Yellow" hit single.
Reconsider: You've never been fond of "black and yellow ... black and yellow ... black and yellow ... "
