A trio of actors with deep Chicago ties have been added to the cast of the HBO mini-series "Show Me a Hero," the latest project from David Simon.

Longtime TV actor Jim Belushi, Steppenwolf co-founder Terry Kinney and Lakeview native and Columbia College alum Michael Stahl-David ("Cloverfield") join the ensemble of the six-hour series about a young mayor, his court-mandated attempts to desegregate low-income housing and the pushback he encountered on both sides of the racial divide.

The mini-series is based on the non-fiction book also titled "Show Me a Hero," and it will be directed by Paul Haggis ("Crash"). Simon is best known for his critically lauded HBO series "The Wire." Oscar Isaac ("Inside Llewyn Davis") will play the mayor, with Catherine Keener as an embattled homeowner.
