It's happening. MTV's 30th installment of "The Real World" will be shooting west of the Loop this summer. Raise a glass or gird your outrage, whichever the case may be.

Chicago Film Office head Rich Moskal confirmed Sunday that the "The Real World" will be filming in Chicago and the Zoning Board of Appeals has issued Bunim/Murray, which produces the reality series, a special use permit for a property at 1100 W. Randolph St., the former site of Bon V nightclub, which will be remodeled into a living space for the cast.

A start date has not yet been announced but Moskal said filming on the reality show will likely begin in August and continue over 12 weeks.

The last time "The Real World" came to Chicago, cast and crew were based in the Wicker Park neighborhood during the latter half of 2001 and encountered significant push back from many who felt the production was only exacerbating problems of gentrification in the neighborhood.
