Blues Camp for kids
Students from across the country converged on Chicago in July to attend Blues Camp, a unique institution created by bluesman Fernando Jones to nurture the art form. During five high-decibel days at Columbia College Chicago, the emerging blues musicians took lessons, participated in workshops, went on field trips and jammed during extended rehearsal sessions. The activity culminated in a marathon performance at one of the world's great blues clubs, Buddy Guy's Legends, in the South Loop. To Jones, Blues Camp was not only stoking talent but "saving lives."
