HAPPY FEET

Rating: PG for some mild peril and rude humor.

What it’s about: An Emperor penguin who would rather dance than sing tries to find his place in the world, and to discover just what is eating up all the penguins’ fish.

The Kid Attractor Factor: Animated penguins who sing and dance.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Superstition leads to stupidity.

Violence: Scary chases by a leopard seal, killer whales, and ruthless birds.

Language: Clean.

Sex: The occasional penguin bump and grind joke.

Drugs: None.

Parents advisory: A bit frightening, at moments, for the very young, but light enough fare for 5-and-up.

CASINO ROYALE

Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of violent action, a scene of torture, sexual content and nudity.

What it’s about: A British assassin is promoted to secret agent 007 in this “first” James Bond adventure, involving murderous villains and a big card game.

The Kid Attractor Factor: James Bond, eternal teenager, with a cool car and guns.

Good lessons/bad lessons: You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em, know when to walk away, know when to run.

Violence: Lots and lots and lots. Bloody and personal, with graphic torture.

Language: A bit of profanity, here and there, most of it straight from the 1953 novel.

Sex: Bond is no monk.

Drugs: Lots and lots of alcohol, shaken or stirred.

Parents advisory: This is more “Bourne” than Bond, so the violence takes center stage. Take the “13” in that PG-13 seriously.
