Elizabeth Ratliff, a student at the College of William and Mary, is the first local college student to receive a $500 grant to purchase books under a new program of Newsletters, USA. The program’s purpose is to aid with critical expenses so the student is able to devote time in an internship that would otherwise require an additional job.
“I believe that internships at quality businesses are critical to my career development and understanding of the world outside of college,” says Ratliff, who is interning with Newsletters. “It has opened up my experience immensely.”
Ned Logan, a William and Mary alumnus and local resident, also feels that internships are important. “I feel that my contribution will help a striving young person. I hope to stay in touch with Liz and follow her success path.”
Logan contributed $250 which was matched by Wayne Schroepfer and Jack Halverson of Newsletters USA. Jerry Maloney of the William and Mary Bookstore will facilitate the distribution of books.
